Helen Scales is a marine biologist, writer and broadcaster. Her books include Spirals in Time (2015), Eye of the Shoal (2018) and The Brilliant Abyss (2021), and her writing has appeared in National Geographic, The Guardian and New Scientist, among others. She teaches at the University of Cambridge and is science advisor for the marine conservation charity Sea Changers. She lives between Cambridge, UK, and the wild Atlantic coast of France.
