During the 1970s and ’80s in South Korea, massive industrial expansion and urbanisation affected nearly every aspect of life for factory workers. This stylish short documentary from the South Korea-based director Nils Clauss is an exploration both of economics and of language, revealing how industrialisation changed the living conditions of South Koreans and, in the process, gave rise to new words for everything from their tiny communal apartments to the killer shoes worn for a night on the town.
