An eloquent advocate for ethnic diversity in ecology and environmental studies, J Drew Lanham of Clemson University has developed a helpful set of field rules for his fellow black birdwatchers. In this short video, he gives a rundown of some of his best birding tips, including, vitally: ‘If you’re gonna bird at night, you better be careful.’ You can read Lanham’s full set of rules at Orion Magazine.
