When it comes to romantic relationships, what’s the one undesirable characteristic you simply can’t overlook? A disinterest in cats or dogs? Unappealing eating habits? Not finding fart jokes funny? In this playful visual experiment, students on a postgraduate course in Character Animation at Central Saint Martins art school in London each animate a classmate, naming a trait or two they couldn’t tolerate in a potential partner. Jumping between segments and animation styles, what was designed as a lip-synchronisation exercise doubles as an entertaining, informal survey of unforgivable turn-offs for people in their 20s. Through this, the viewer is also given small glimpse into the students’ talents, worldviews and perhaps even how they view their peers.
