This question relates to my essay today about the Amish and their future. I’ve spent over 25 years exploring Plain communities and even after all of these years I remain ambivalent. Part of me, thinks the Amish are really onto something....most Amish homes that I’ve visited are no-frills bastions of family, faith and good food divorced from tablets and smartphones and there’s something very invigorating about a return to basics.
