Michael E Smith is professor of anthropology in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at Arizona State University. His books include At Home with the Aztecs (2016), the co-authored The Geoarchaeology of a Terraced Landscape (2021), and Urban Life in the Distant Past: The Prehistory of Energized Crowding (forthcoming, 2023). He lives in Temple, Arizona.
