Sharman Apt Russell is the author of 12 award-winning books, translated into nine languages, including Hunger: An Unnatural History (Basic Books, 2005) and Within Our Grasp: Childhood Malnutrition Worldwide and the Revolution Taking Place to End It (Pantheon Books, 2021). Her Diary of a Citizen Scientist (OSU Press, 2014) won the 2016 John Burroughs Medal for Distinguished Natural History Writing. She teaches part-time at Antioch University in Los Angeles and lives in the magical realism of the American Southwest.
