Joseph Silk is Homewood Research Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He was awarded the 2011 Balzan Prize for his pioneering work on the infant Universe. His most recent book is Back to the Moon: The Next Giant Leap for Humankind (Princeton, 2022).
