Chair in Colonial Latin American History, Tulane University in New Orleans

Kris Lane holds the France V Scholes Chair in Colonial Latin American History at Tulane University in New Orleans. He is the author of Potosí: The Silver City that Changed the World (2019), Pillaging the Empire: Global Piracy on the High Seas, 1500-1750 (2015); Colour of Paradise: The Emerald in the Age of Gunpowder Empires (2010), and Quito 1599: City and Colony in Transition (2002). He is currently finishing a global history of the great Potosí mint fraud of 1649.
