Melanie Meng Xue

Assistant Professor of Economics, New York University - Abu Dhabi

Melanie Meng Xue is a tenure-track assistant professor (September 2020- ) in the Social Science Division at New York University (AD), a member of the economic history group. Before joining NYU AD, she spent time at UCLA and Northwestern. She has examined the rise of women, the self-perpetuation of authoritarian regimes, and the evolution of antisocial behavior in early modern and modern China. Another strand of her research concerns the decoding of folklore and mythology as an alternative approach to cultural economics.
