Melissa Lane is the Class of 1943 Professor of Politics and director of the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. Her books include Eco-Republic (2011/2012) and The Birth of Politics (2015), and she often appears on the In Our Time broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
