Alan Strathern is a university lecturer and tutorial fellow in modern history at Brasenose College, and a lecturer at St John’s College, both at the University of Oxford. He is the author of Kingship and Conversion in Sixteenth-Century Sri Lanka: Portuguese Imperialism in a Buddhist Land (2007).
