Chris Bobel is professor of women’s, gender and sexuality studies at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She has long been fascinated in the ways activists frame their issues and their inteventions to articulate what’s at stake in social movements. Her most recent books include The Managed Body: Developing Girls and Menstrual Health in the Global South (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018) and, as co-editor, Body Battlegrounds: Transgressions, Tensions and Transformations (Vanderbilt, 2019) and The Palgrave Handbook of Critical Menstruation Studies (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). She is currently at work on a new book exploring the relationship between grief and contemporary activism tentatively titled Accidental Activism: Why Grief Becomes Grievance in the Wake of Traumatic Loss.
