Robert D Zaretsky is professor of history at the University of Houston and is a frequent contributor to The New York Times, Boston Globe, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, among others. He is the author of several books, including A Life Worth Living: Albert Camus and the Quest for Meaning (2013) and The Subversive Simone Weil: A Life in Five Ideas (2021). He lives in Houston.
