Defying death and the law, Kirill chases freedom atop Moscow’s tallest buildings

Save

The young Russian stunt performer Kirill Oreshkin has amassed a significant internet following due to his death-defying exploits, which include snapping vertigo-inducing selfies from atop some of Russia’s tallest and most iconic buildings. The Hanging follows Oreshkin chasing the feeling of freedom that accompanies his dangerous ‘roofing’ stunts in Moscow, all while dodging the law and Russian military conscription. This short documentary gives depth to Oreshkin’s thrill-seeking, reaching beyond his photos to explore something much more personal – and universal – in his struggle to find meaning and motivation after high school. The US-based director Geoffrey Feinberg’s short documentary was featured at several leading documentary film festivals in 2016 and 2017, including International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), AFI Docs and the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.
